It feels good to have a couple of days back in my normal routine. Today I did another low intensity endurance session. I started very tame (18 SPM, 170W). On slides. The next 20 minutes I alternated 18 and 20 SPM. Then for the last 20 minutes I added some 22 and 24 SPM bits. HR was disappointingly high throughout, but at least I’m on the erg.
Tomorrow: OTW on Quinsigamond.
Have you stopped doing lactate measurements?

Yeah pretty much. I’m working with Hr limits right now. I know that lactate is a lot more accurate, but it’s a lot of fumbling around and extra stuff to bring to the gym.
Truth be told, I’m having a bit of an issue figuring out how to manage my training with all the interruptions. It seems that testing lactates for steady state only really helps if you are climbing the lactate ladder on watts. Pushing the power up incrementally and using lactates to make sure you don’t push too far.
It would probably make sense to redo lactates and find the appropriate training power. But I will likely wait until I have a boat again and do a bunch of tests to get an idea of HR to lactate correlation right now. I have work off of HR in the boat on steady state anyway.
