This has been the nicest stretch of weather this week. Today was mirror flat water, temps in the 50s, and bright sunshine.
Plan: Implementing a short 3 day taper for the race on Saturday. This is based on this paper.
- Nice long warmup
- 3 x 500m / 500m rest
- Rate: >30
- Pace: faster than 2:00
- Work on keeping the rate up and technically clean.

The intervals stung, but only for a very short while after finishing each. I really like to see a pace below 2:00 on the speed coach. It’s fun to row fast.
I’m probably going to need to do tomorrow on the erg because I have an early meeting at work. Pity. The weather is supposed perfect again.
Bah, humbug. The weather is rubbish here. What’s the race this weekend?
I’ve got one this weekend too: http://www.elyrowingclub.org.uk/index.php/races/small-boats-head
5km of straight man made river, which isn’t to be sniffed at! Unfortunately the forecast is for a headwind straight down it, 17mph gusting to 33mph. That could make for some interesting waves!

This weekend is the Merrimack Chase. It’s a 4+km race on a nice section of the Merrimack river with one long easy turn. There are only 4 boats in my event. I’ve enjoyed this race the past two years I’ve done it.
Forecast is for a westerly wind which is a head wind for the first half, but only about 10mph.

Wimps the lot of you, I have planned 11km of fun in the sun in Italy

After suffering from what turned out to be a pretty nasty cold and chest infection these last 3 weeks (picked up on the way to Boston I think) I’m hoping to just be able to make it down the course without drowning in phlegm!

Perhaps you could spit on anyone that attempts to pass you. A rowing version of germ warfare 😉
I hope it clears enough for you to have a good row.

I would like to row Silverskiff once as well … Also have my eyes on the Rose of the Worthersee http://www.rv-albatros.at/rva08rose.php and skiffhead in Amsterdam: http://www.skiffhead.nl/index.php?id=64

The Silverskiff is definitely on my rowing bucket list. I checked out the skiffhead online from one of your previous comments and it looks like a great course. I hadn’t heard of the Rose of the Worthersee before, I’ll have to check it out.
Maybe after I retire, I could plan out an autumn in Europe going to all the great head races!

Skiffhead is a great event. And a big event as well. Look at the pictures:
